You better quit your job

We don’t actually know if it’s really time for you to move on to new career pastures, but you will be able to answer this question by the time you’ve finished reading this blog post.

There are a lot of factors and everyone is different, but if you identify with at least half of these statements, it’s definitely time to start thinking about a new job.

  1. You have nightmares about work – We wouldn’t say dreaming about your job is normal, but having nightmares about it is a real problem. These reflections of your subconscious might be sending you a message.
  2. You’re always bored – Minutes feel like hours and days feel like weeks. This obviously isn’t fun or fulfilling for most people, but it can lead to more serious problems like depression and anxiety.
  3. You’ve tried but nothing works — If you’ve already read a million articles and tried taking their advice to revamp and rev up your career to no avail, it’s probably just not going to work.
  4. You never have any fun – Work is work, but every job should come with some fun. If there are never any good times during your 9-to-5 day and no one you can share a laugh with, you need to move on.
  5. You’ve pretty much already checked out – If you put no thought or effort into doing your job and feel no excitement or energy for it, this is not good.
  6. Your appearance has changed – If you have lost or gained weight, wear sloppy clothes every day, don’t take time or care with your hair or make-up, there are deeper issues at play than just not liking your job.
  7. All you do is complain – The only time you ever talk about your job is when you’re complaining to family, friends and co-workers
  8. You’re addicted to job searching – If every free minute you have is consumed by checking job postings and job boards, the one you have is probably not the right fit anymore.
  9. You’ll take any excuse – Would you truly rather be sick with the flu than have to come into work? If your vacations days are already long gone and it’s only February, your answer should be pretty obvious.

So, how many are true for you? Have you experience any other signs that we should add to the list?
